What we collect

Email address (to sign you in).

The biodata fields you enter — name, photos, family details, preferences, astrology if you choose.

Phone or device metadata only when you share something on WhatsApp from inside aangan (handled by your phone, not us).

Basic technical signals: IP address, browser user-agent, approximate timestamps. Used for security and rate-limiting.

What we never collect

We do not ask for, or store, your Aadhaar number, PAN, or any other government ID in Phase 1.

We do not ask for your phone number to register. Email OTP is the only sign-in path.

We do not track you across other websites. There is no third-party analytics or advertising SDK.

How we use what we collect

Signing you in (via email OTP from Resend).

Storing your biodata and photos so you and the people you invite can edit them.

Generating PDFs and share links on your request.

Logging actions on your biodata so you can review who viewed or edited it.

Who can see your biodata

Only people you explicitly grant access to. There is no public directory. Every viewer must sign in with an email to even open a share link.

You can revoke any editor, viewer, or share link at any time from /biodata/[id]/settings — access is removed on their next request.

Where data is stored

Postgres database hosted on Neon (us-west-2 region).

Photos on Cloudflare R2 (APAC region) served via uploads.aangan.life. Originals are stripped of EXIF (location, device) before storage; thumbnails carry a small aangan.life watermark.

We do not sell, lease, or share your data with any third party.

Your rights under India's DPDP Act 2023

Access: Download a full JSON export of your data any time from /account.

Correction: Edit or remove any field from your biodata any time.

Erasure: Delete your account from /account. All your biodatas, photos, share links, and session history are removed within 30 days.

Grievance: Email support@aangan.life with any concern — we respond within 7 days.

Cookies

One HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax cookie to keep you signed in. No advertising or tracking cookies.

Children

Aangan is not intended for users under 18. We don't knowingly collect data from minors.

Updates

We'll post material changes here and email anyone with an active account at least 7 days before they take effect.
